BELMONT / MINERAL POINT -  Harold A. Vickers, age 90, formerly of Belmont, and Mineral Point, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center in Reedsburg, surrounded by his close friends.

He was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Seymour Township, Wis., the son of Lawn and Anna (Clayton) Vickers. Harold attended Vickers’ Grade School and graduated from Darlington High School in 1940. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for one year, where he was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Fraternity. Following his schooling Harold returned to the family farm in rural Darlington to farm with his father until his passing in 1957. He continued to farm with his mother until they retired to Belmont in 1979. In 1994, Harold moved to Mineral Point. He also lived at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Platteville, and at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center in Reedsburg.

Harold attended the Pleasant View Methodist Church until moving to Belmont, where he became a member of Belmont United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Belmont Lions Club and International Egg Art Guild. Harold was active in the Belmont School Fair. He was known for his photography, decorated egg shells, Christmas jeweled ball ornaments, and his Christmas tree decorated with his homemade ornaments. Harold traveled extensively within the United States to attend Egg Shows in states such as, California, Alaska, Arizona, Tennessee, Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. He received a ribbon for one of his decorated egg shells at the Alaska State Fair. Harold also traveled a number of times to Norway and England.

Harold is survived by one cousin, Cyril Clayton of Platteville; special friend, Donna (Roger) Wetzel of Lodi, and their son and two daughters, Martin (Kay) Wetzel and their children, Jacob, Tim, Grace, and Faith Wetzel all of Lodi; Melissa (Steve) Kincaid and their children, Rowan, and Declan Kincaid all of Baraboo; and Rachael (Brian) Izdepski and their children, Daniel and Isaac Izdepski of Fordland, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father on April 14, 1957; his mother on Oct. 23, 1986; his grandparents, John and Alice Clayton and Tom and Martha Vickers; his uncle and aunt, James and Alda Clayton and their son, Orlo Clayton; and his aunt and uncle, Mable and Jack Schlamp.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. at ERICKSON FUNERAL HOME, 508 Main Street in Darlington, with the Rev. Peter Berg of Belmont United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at ERICKSON FUNERAL HOME.
