Long-time Republican consultant Brian Schimming was quoted, after walking near the Capitol Square at Tuesday’s protest, wondering why the area wasn’t overflowing with teachers now that it is summer and they have tons of free time to protest. Schimming needs to be enlightened.

I don’t know what event he was attending, but I was there, and if he had dared to make eye contact and really taken a close look, he would have seen that our hard-working Wisconsin educators from all around the state were in attendance, proudly carrying signs and wearing their schools’ logos on T-shirts as they marched around the Square.

It saddens me to see how our state is allowing Walker to balance the budget primarily on the shoulders of these dedicated Wisconsin employees, but it makes me nauseous when a Republican like Schimming makes fun of them too. Shame on him.
