As a longtime Packers fan, I am saddened by the retirement of Donald Driver.

It seems he was forced to retire by being kept on the Packers bench for two seasons, while certain "prima donna" pass receivers were kept playing out on the field.

While Driver might not have been in coach Mike McCarthy's and the other staff members' plans for the future, McCarthy and his staff were the major reason the Packers missed going to the Super Bowl two years in a row.

Since Vince Lombardi, Driver goes down in my books as Green Bay's greatest fixture and franchise player of all time.

Maybe McCarthy and his staff should be looking over their shoulders after their terrible showing during the last two years of playoffs.

You know?, I thought about this and you have a point. I searched my mind with that question and I have two such players that stuck out right away, and before people criticize, I want you to also think about this. Remember, it's not just the athletic ability of the player, it's what that player does off the field as well as on, and the two that came to mind immediately were of course Donald Driver, and the other, Gilbert Brown. Those two people to me brought a certain enthusiasm, comradery and entertainment to the game. They were icons that kids and parents alike could look up to, with no hoopla or controversy. The way the politics work in the NFL, it was despicable how they how they treat the players they no longer have use for. These are the people we want to see, these are the real Packers, and I am ashamed of the Packer's front office. This is not a team owned by some big wig fat man, this team is Wisconsin. Donald was still as good as the young guys, and gave 110%, which is more than I can say about some of the other receivers they so highly regard. Good Luck Donald, and thank you.
