A Sparta woman is facing felony charges after police said she stabbed her boyfriend’s ex.
According to the Sparta Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence at 1200 Sugarberry Blvd. shortly after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, where they found a 29-year-old woman with a cut on her thigh.
The victim was taken to a La Crosse hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
They determined that the victim was visiting her child when Julie Leatherberry arrived home and a fight broke out between the two women. Leatherberry, 26, grabbed a folding knife and stabbed the victim in the leg, according to police.
Leatherberry fled before police arrived but was arrested when she later returned. She is being held in the Monroe County Jail on suspicion of substantial battery, recklessly endangering safety and causing injury by negligent use of a weapon.
