In both live performances and on recordings, Hest has a classic “man and his guitar” sound, with his husky, distinctive voice setting him apart from other singer-songwriters. He seems to move effortlessly from low crooning to falsettos, and his music has been compared to everyone from the Counting Crows to Doobie Brothers-era Michael McDonald.

Last year, the native New Yorker wrote, recorded and self-released a new song every week on his website, an endeavor he called the “52” project.

Hest, who will be playing the High Noon Saloon on Tuesday, Nov. 25, chose the best ones, with fan input from an online poll, for his newest album “Twelve Mondays.”
