BLUE MOUNDS — Carla Swart of Lees-McRae College won her third straight women's Division I road race championship Friday in the USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals.

The South African, who has medaled in every college event in which she has competed in the last two years, used a big push on the last climb of the 73-mile course to hold off UCLA's Courtney O'Donnell, with Sinead Miller of Marian finishing third.

Lees-McRae is located in Banner Elk, N.C.

Blake Anton of Cal Poly claimed victory in the Division I men's road race, followde by Adam Wisseman of Colorado State and Mense de Jong of Cal Poly.

In Division II, Cory Scott of William & Mary claimed the men's road race, while Dartmouth's Arielle Filiberti added the women's road race title to a trophy case that already includes the USA Cycling Collegiate Cyclocross championship.

The races were contested amid cold, rainy conditions on a loop that started and finished at Blue Mound State Park in western Dane County.
