Milwaukee Brewers' Eric Sogard, right, hits a run scoring single as San Diego Padres catcher Luis Torrens watches during the fifth inning in San Diego on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

The Milwaukee Brewers continued their knack for getting timely hits in Cactus League play on Tuesday in a 6-3 victory against the Cincinnati Reds at Maryvale Baseball Park.

Eric Sogard hit a bases-clearing double to tie the game in the fifth inning and Nick Franklin hit a three-run home run in the sixth to put the Brewers ahead to stay as they improved their spring record to 5-1.

Sogard, hitting in the No. 9 spot, increased his RBI total to a team-leading six.

“I’m just trying to see the ball, not trying to do too much,” Sogard told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I’ve just felt comfortable since my first at-bat. Last spring, it took me a while to get my feet back on the ground. I think I’m more relaxed this spring and able to focus on what I need to do to get ready. I’m able to work on different things.”

Right-hander Chase Anderson started and of the 19 pitches he threw, 18 were strikes. He allowed one hit and struck out one in two innings.

Ryan Braun is slated to make his first appearance at first base when the Brewers host the Giants on Wednesday.
