In case you haven’t seen it, University of Wisconsin senior forward Jon Leuer caught the eye of Villanova coach Jay Wright as he led a select group of college players that practiced with the USA Basketball national team last week in Las Vegas.

Gary Parrish of asked Wright to name the best college player with USA Basketball. Wright" target="_blank">picked the 6-foot-10 Leuer over Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith and Marcus Morris and others.

“He’s really good,” Wright told Parrish. “Maybe I haven’t followed him as well because he’s from the Midwest, and maybe he wouldn’t surprise anybody else. But he’s got great size, he puts it on the floor, he passes it, he can shoot it. He’s just a ballplayer.”

An NBA ballplayer, Parrish asked?

“Yes,” Wright answered.

Speaking of Parrish, he penned a piece on the UW basketball program for as part of a series on the five best football-basketball programs in the country.

Wisconsin is No. 4, just ahead of Pittsburgh. The top three will be unveiled over the next few days.
