The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team will play St. John’s in a non-conference game on Nov. 8 in Sioux Falls, S.D., the Argus (S.D.) Leader reported Monday.
The game will be played at the new Sanford Pentagon and will be nationally televised, likely by Big Ten Network, the newspaper reported.
It’s easy to understand why the Badgers were chosen to play in one of the first games on the building’s 3,250-seat Heritage Court: Former UW athlete Joe Krabbenhoft, who is now a video coordinator on Bo Ryan’s staff, is a native of Sioux Falls, and his father, Kelby Krabbenhoft, is the CEO of Sanford Health.
St. John’s, which is coached by Steve Lavin, went 17-16 last season. The Red Storm’s season ended with a loss to Virginia in the NIT.
The arena will also host an NBA exhibition game on Oct. 10 between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
