Jared Berggren will play for the Orlando Magic’s entry in the Orlando summer league next month.
Berggren went undrafted in Thursday night’s NBA draft, but the former forward for the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team will try to impress the Magic — and other teams — during a stretch of five games from July 7-12.
“They expressed interest in having me for summer league if I did go undrafted,” said Berggren, who worked out for the Magic earlier this month. “It seemed like they definitely liked me. I knew it would be a pretty good situation for me there.”
Vander Blue, meanwhile, will get a double dose of summer league action. The former Madison Memorial High School and Marquette guard will play for the Memphis Grizzlies in the Las Vegas summer league from July 12-22 after playing for the Houston Rockets in the Orlando summer league.
Blue and Berggren are hoping to make enough of an impression during summer league play to earn an invite to an NBA training camp as an undrafted free agent.
