The University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team has offered a scholarship to high school freshman Anna Wilson, according to her older brother.
Badgers fans might remember the big brother — he’s former UW quarterback Russell Wilson, now a leading NFL rookie of the year candidate for the Seattle Seahawks.
“My sister just got offered a full scholarship to play Basketball @UWMadison #OnWisconsin Another Wilson on the way!?” Russell Wilson tweeted Monday night.
Anna Wilson is a 5-foot-7 guard for Collegiate School in Richmond, Va., the same private school her brother starred at before moving on to North Carolina State and eventually UW.
She averaged 14 points per game for Collegiate last year as an eighth grader playing on the varsity team.
Anna Wilson appears to take the same conscientious approach to her athletic career as her older brother. After going to Atlanta last weekend to watch Russell Wilson’s playoff game against the Falcons, she tweeted that she spent the plane ride home watching basketball film.
She reacted to her brother’s tweet about her UW scholarship offer by posting a screen capture of his message, writing, “Russell always shouting me out, love him!”
