Bret Bielema tattoo
UW football coach Bret Bielema got a "Believe, Achieve" tattoo with the Iowa logo during his days as a football player for the Hawkeyes, and it was visible during the 2007 Crazylegs Classic race when Bielema ran the 8-kilometer route alongside more than 15,000 runners and walkers. The underpinnings of the rivalry between the University of Wisconsin football team and Iowa start to take form long before the players even enter college.

The Badgers and Hawkeyes frequently battle over recruits, not just in the Midwest but South Florida, Texas and other parts of the country too.

"It's probably not so much location," said Badgers coach Bret Bielema, a former Iowa player and assistant coach. "We run very similar schemes."

Bielema has a pretty good idea of one of the recruiting tactics the Iowa coaches use against him.

"Every time somebody goes to visit there, the first thing ... they're going to come back and say, ‘Coach, can we see your tattoo?'" Bielema said of the Tiger Hawk tattoo on his calf. "Every Iowa coach says that to (players being recruited by both schools). I know their routine. Nothing surprising."
