A decision on the status of the University of Wisconsin football team's suspended safeties, Shane Carter and Aubrey Pleasant, is expected to be made by Wednesday, according to a parent of one of the players.
Both players have retained lawyers and gone through the appeal process. They were suspended indefinitely by UW coach Bret Bielema on Aug. 15. Bielema gave no reason for the suspensions and has not commented any further on them publicly since then.
Garner Pleasant said he was told a final decision would be made early this week. Since Monday was Labor Day, he expected to hear something on Tuesday or Wednesday. He declined further comment.
Carter and Pleasant, two fifth-year seniors, have not been practicing with the team or using the workout facilities.
Both figured heavily into the Badgers' plans at one time. Pleasant had a strong spring and was listed as a co-starter with junior Jay Valai going into fall camp.
Carter is one of the most experienced players on the team, having played in 37 games, with 20 starts. He shared time at free safety last season with senior Chris Maragos and was expected to contend for playing time in passing situations.
