GAME BALL

Lance Kendricks: Only at UW could a tight end almost rush for 100 yards. The junior set the tone with a 21-yard run on an end-around on UW's first play from scrimmage and finished with 112 all-purpose yards (91 rushing, 21 receiving).

THUMBS UP

UW's 2009 recruiting class: Chris Borland (two forced fumbles) and David Gilbert (blocked punt that resulted in a touchdown) answered the call again Saturday.

THUMBS DOWN

Purdue's passing game: When quarterback Joey Elliott delivered passes on the money, which wasn't often, his receivers dropped them. Purdue had at least six drops and its quarterbacks were a combined 9-for-33 for 81 yards.

BY THE NUMBERS

11: Consecutive road losses by Purdue.

80: Big Ten games between shutouts for UW.

110: Yards gained by the Badgers on seven end-around plays.

BIG (TEN) PICTURE

The Badgers' hopes of slipping back into the Big Ten title picture didn't seem like a longshot when Indiana was leading first-place Iowa by 14 points. But the Hawkeyes rallied with 28 fourth-quarter points. Second place remains a realistic goal.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Badgers return to the scene of one of their few bright spots from last season as UW rushed for 441 yards in a 55-20 win over Indiana in Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers are better this season, although they have lost five of six.

THE VIEW

How the team sees it: Who knew ''Bye'' was going to put up a bigger fight than Purdue?

How UW fans will see it: Even those who dressed up as ghosts would have had a hard time coming up with something to boo about.

How the pollsters will see it: If anybody outside the Midwest was still paying attention to Big Ten teams not named Iowa, they'd have to be impressed by this performance.
