J.J. Denman, a University of Wisconsin football recruit from Pennsylvania, has been selected for the U.S. Under-19 national team that will compete in the third annual International Bowl.
The event, formerly known as Team USA vs. The World, will be held Aug. 19 in Austin, Texas. The U.S. will face a team comprised of players from all other countries. Both teams will carry 50 players.
The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Denman, regarded as a four-star recruit (out of five) by Scout.com, has been a four-year starter for Fairless Hills (Pa.) High School, playing center and tackle. He projects as a right tackle in college.
The U.S. roster is being introduced incrementally by position group.
Current Badgers defensive end Tyler Dippel played in the event in 2009, heading into his college career.
Following some impressive performances in preliminary games that earned him second-team all-tournament honors, Dippel sustained a knee injury during the semifinal, prompting him to redshirt his first season at UW.
