Quarterback Chance Stewart, from Sturgis, Mich., who gave an oral commitment to the Badgers last August for their 2014 class, has decommitted. Stewart said he talked to defensive coordinator Dave Aranda on Tuesday and gave him the news.

“I think he kind of knew it was going to happen,” Stewart told Badger Nation. “Me and my dad think it is the best thing for our family right now. I want to see what else is out there.”

Stewart will still consider UW and said Aranda told him he remains a top prospect for next year’s class.

“I am definitely going to still consider Wisconsin,” Stewart said. “It is a great school and everything about it I really like, but I felt like I should really keep my options open.”

I believe this QB is a pro-style system player. Great for the previous coach but this coach favors a dual threat player. Both sides probably agreed this was no longer a good fit. What's alarming to me is the incredible lack of depth at WR and DB. The previous coach certainly left the cupboard empty on those positions.

Once again the issue I am most concerned about with the hiring of Gary Andersen is recruiting. What type of offense does he useand will he be recruiting for? Does he have the contacts in the area (midwest, east, and south)where we have had the most success recruiting in the near past? In the long run the later question will determine his success at Wisconsin. This developement as well as the relatively small recruiting class that finally signed this year and the recruiting of JC players all somewhat sound alarming to me.

Not surprising now that the Badgers have about 82 QBs in camp, with more possible JC transfers to come. So many QBs that Budmayr is now a "student coach."

We'll see how things settle in.

We should sic the UW's top-flight medical researchers on this problem. Maybe they could go up to the rooftops some stormy night and animate a QB with the legs of LaDainian Tomlinson, the torso of Lawrence Taylor, the right arm of Dan Marino, the left arm of Michael Vick, the brain of Bart Starr, the determination of Brett Favre, and the complaisance of Double Trouble the cat.
