Becca Ruegsegger, a freshman goaltender who made 64 saves in the University of Wisconsin women's hockey team's sweep of then-No. 2 Minnesota last weekend, has been named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week.
Ruegsegger posted four shutout periods against the Gophers and made a career-high 38 saves in the Badgers' 5-2 victory on Sunday.
On the season, Ruegsegger ranks second among WCHA players overall in goals-against average (2.01) and fourth in both saves percentage (.924) and winning percentage (4-2-0, .667).
