Blake Kessel, a defenseman from Madison, is off to a notable start in his sophomore season with New Hampshire.
After missing the first game with a shoulder injury, he's rattled off four straight multi-point outings. He leads the Wildcats in scoring with 10 points (3 goals and 7 assists). He's almost eclipsed his output from last season when he had 6-7-13 in 37 games.
A quick check of stats from around the country shows Kessel has some Wisconsin-produced company in making some early noise.
Sophomore center Brett Olson (Superior) leads Michigan Tech in scoring at 3-4-7.
Senior winger Eric Lampe (Madison) is second in scoring at Quinnipiac at 3-2-5.
Freshman winger Jordan George (Madison) is tied for third in scoring at Bemidji State at 2-2-4.
Freshman goaltender Mike Johnson (Verona) debuted at Notre Dame with a 2-0 shutout of Providence.
