University of Wisconsin defenseman John Ramage was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week after notching overtime goals in both games over the weekend against Minnesota State-Mankato.

Ramage, a senior captain, helped the Badgers extend their unbeaten streak to 10 games with their first-ever sweep at Mankato. UW has now won six straight games.

Ramage scored at 4:28 of overtime on Friday night, giving UW its first road and WCHA regular-season overtime victory since Nov. 3, 2006, at Alaska Anchorage. He repeated his feat on Saturday night, lighting the lamp with only 6.2 seconds left in the extra session.

Ramage's exploits in Mankato marked the third time a UW player has scored overtime game-winners in both games of a series. David Hukalo did it against North Dakota on Jan. 14-15, 2000, and Paul Ranheim did it on Nov. 7-8, 1986, vs. Colorado College.

The Badgers return to the Kohl Center this weekend for a non-conference series against Miami (Ohio).
