Waunakee will play its WIAA Division 2 state semifinal football game against Franklin at Kettle Moraine at 1 p.m. Saturday, the WIAA announced today.

Three state semifinal games will be played at Breitenbach Stadium behind Middleton High School, including a double-header Saturday.

The first game at Breitenbach Stadium will be Friday at 7 p.m. when De Soto and Burlington Catholic Central square off in a Division 7 state semifinal. Catholic Central, the defending state champion, knocked off the Pirates 36-10 in last year's state semifinals.

The first game of Saturday's double-header will pit Reedsburg against Waukesha Catholic Memorial at 1 p.m. in a Division 3 state semifinal. Reedsburg is the 2008 Division 3 state runner-up.

The nightcap will feature a Division 5 showdown between Lancaster and Fond du Lac Springs at 5 p.m. Lancaster lost in the state semifinals at Middleton a year ago to Cedar Grove-Belgium -- the team that Springs beat Saturday to reach the semifinals.

In the only other state semifinal game involving an area team, Lodi -- which had been under the impression it would play its semifinal at Lodi -- will instead travel to Hartland Arrowhead High School in the town of Merton to play Walworth Big Foot in a Division 4 battle. Big Foot is the 2008 Division 4 state runner-up.
