Injured junior forward Jon Leuer’s surgically repaired left wrist is healing well, according to University of Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez.
Alvarez, who was at the UW men’s basketball team’s practice Tuesday, said doctors have told Leuer that blood is flowing through the scaphoid bone that he broke against Purdue at the Kohl Center on Jan. 9.
That is a key piece of news because it means the healing process is in full swing.
But no one is saying when Leuer will be back. Sources close to the program said Wednesday Leuer won’t be back within a week, which would rule him out for UW’s game vs. Michigan State next Tuesday night at the Kohl Center. The sources wouldn’t comment beyond that.
Leuer has not been available to comment and is not expected to talk to reporters anytime soon, according to team spokesman Patrick Herb.
Leuer is the team’s second-leading scorer and leading rebounder, averaging 15.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
