Prep Profile: Sawyer Lee, Barneveld
A three-sport athlete with nine letters who earned all-conference honors in football, basketball and baseball, Lee carries a 3.2 GPA, is a member of 4-H and Wisconsin Energy Efficiency Vehicles program, and will attend UW-Platteville to study Technology Education, in hopes of someday becoming a teacher.
Prep Profile: Wyatt Massey, Pecatonica
A team captain in track and field as a senior who owns the school record in the 1,600-meter run and was a state cross country qualifier, Massey is an accomplished dancer, a four-time state qualifier in forensics who earned a perfect score as a senior, a longtime member of the Up & Over 4-H club for 10 years, and a three-time state champion and international qualifier with the Pecatonica Future Problem Solvers team.

The Sixth annual Badger North vs. South Senior Boys and Inaugural Big Eight East vs. West Senior Boys All-Star prep basketball games will take place at Edgewood College on Sunday.
On Preps: Stoughton to host annual College Signing Day
Max Fuller and Rachel Ott, who were featured in my weekly “Prep Profiles” column in the Wisconsin State Journal and on Madison.com last fall, will be among 15 student-athletes who will be recognized at Stoughton High School’s annual College Signing Day on Wednesday, May 25. Fuller plans to study sports management or psychology and play football at Bemidji (Minn.) State this fall. Ott will study chemistry or pharmacy and play volleyball at Minnesota State-Mankato. “We encourage further participation in college athletics and are pleased to honor our students who have decided to compete in a sport in college,” Stoughton Athletic/Activities Director Mel Dow said. “We have several more students who are still finalizing their decisions as well.” The ceremony will be held at 3:15 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria and will include Stoughton student-athletes who plan to compete in basketball, cross country, football, softball, track and field and volleyball in college.
Prep Profile: Alex Bastian, Madison West
Senior Alex Bastian is a track and field record-holder for Madison West as an individual and a part of a relay team. He plans to attend Washington University where he will run track and cross country.
On Preps: Big Eight to join Badger for all-star boys basketball double-header May 20
An inaugural Big Eight Conference Seniors All-Star Boys Basketball Game, featuring an East vs. West matchup, will be held May 20 at Edgewood College. Following the Big Eight game at 3:30 p.m. with a Northern Badger vs. Southern Badger Conference game at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Tom Cabalka is a native of Edina, Minn., where he was a three-sport standout, and a 1974 graduate of the University of Iowa, where he played football.

A four-year letterwinner and All-Southern Badger Conference selection in both soccer and basketball, Meriggioli tutors at St, John’s Elementary School in Waunakee, coaches youth basketball and soccer, and plans to attend Cornell University in New York to study business and play basketball.

A two-time Southern Badger Conference pick in cross country and state qualifier as a junior, Mott also runs track and field and plays basketball. He has visited 10 foreign countries, carries a 4.15 grade-point average and plans to attend the University of Wisconsin to major in biomedical engineering and participate on either the track or triathlon team.

A three-year starter in volleyball who helped lead the Eagles to back-to-back Northern Badger Conference titles -- and a three-time team captain and team MVP as a goalkeeper -- Halweg's volunteer work includes emphasis on food pantries and meal delivery, and she plans to attend Upper Iowa University and play Division II volleyball.
On Preps: Songolo to continue basketball career at UIC
Madison Memorial senior Nigjol Songolo has accepted a preferred walk-on offer to play basketball at the University of Illinois at Chicago this fall.
Prep Profile: Becca Ciampa, Cambridge
A four-year starter in softball and two-year letterwinner in basketball who served as a captain in both sports, Ciampa carries a 3.6 grade-point average, took a mission trip freshman year to New Orleans to help after Hurricane Katrina, and plans to attend Minnesota State-Mankato to study Kinesiology and Sports Management.
