Senior Jevarious Rockmore needed only one play to make it clear Friday night was his night.

After Middleton held host Madison East on fourth-and-short at their 15, Rockmore exploded up the middle for an 85-yard touchdown burst on the Cardinals’ first play and they never looked back en route to a 35-7 Big Eight Conference win over the Purgolders.

Rockmore finished with 205 yards and three TDs on just 12 carries.

Junior quarterback Luke Schafer threw for 105 yards and a pair of TDs for the Cardinals.

Verona 65, Madison La Follette 34: Verona senior Dom Wise and sophomore Eric Schmid combined for 298 yards and six TDs as the host Wildcats ran past the Lancers.

La Follette Junior Ahmed Alzugary returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to pull the Lancers within 21-14.

But Wildcats senior Sam Sharer got loose for a 61-yard touchdown run and Wise added a 24-yard scoring burst and the Lancers got no closer the rest of the way.

Sun Prairie 45, Janesville Craig 7: Senior running back Donte Starlin-Merriam rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns and added a 50-yard TD reception as the host Cardinals throttled the Cougars.

After allowing a 96-yard TD pass from quarterback Jared Krueger to Darian Sharifi that tied the game at 7 in the first quarter, Sun Prairie’s defense shut out the Cougars the rest of the way.

Janesville Parker 26, Beloit Memorial 6: Running back Daivon Vance-Jenkins finished with 227 rushing yards and two touchdowns to go along with his 83-yard kickoff return for a score as the host Vikings beat the Purple Knights.

The Purple Knights got on the board first when quarterback Denzel Barnes hooked up with Dylan Carlye on a 68-yard touchdown pass.

But in the third quarter, Vance-Jenkins responded. After his kickoff return, the junior added touchdown runs of 14 and 4 yards to put the Vikings up 20-6.
