With the WIAA tournament series beginning Tuesday night at the regional quarterfinal level, the Lakeside Lutheran girls volleyball team held on to the No. 4 ranking in Division 2 in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association's weekly poll.

The Capitol North Conference Warriors take a 33-5 record into the postseason. Lakeside earned a No. 1 seeding in its half of the Adams-Friendship sectional and plays at home on Thursday against the winner of Tuesday's opener between Walworth Big Foot and Jefferson.

Lake Mills (23-4) kept the No. 7 ranking and opens Tuesday at home against Delavan-Darien. The L-Cats could meet their across-the-street rivals from Lakeside in a Saturday regional final.

Mount Horeb (30-5), winner of the Badger North Conference regular-season and tournament titles, drew a Tuesday bye and opens at home Thursday against either Sauk Prairie or River Valley.

Edgerton (33-8) earned honorable mention in Division 2 and begins tournament play tonight at home against Beloit Turner.

In Division 1, Sun Prairie (32-7), the Big Eight Conference regular-season tri-champion and conference tournament runner-up, earned honorable mention and was the only Division 1 team from the area to appear in the rankings. The Cardinals drew a first-round regional bye and play at home on Saturday against either Madison Memorial or Onalaska.

In Division 3, No. 3 Cuba City (28-6) and No. 8 Waterloo (22-15) kept their rankings. Cuba City opens tourney play tonight at home against New Glarus, and Waterloo plays host to Fennimore tonight. Wisconsin Heights (21-12) earned honorable mention and plays host to Lancaster tonight.

In Division 4, River Ridge (20-1) fell one spot to No. 4, Benton (22-2) climbed one position to No. 7, and Randolph (24-9) held firm at No. 10. Southwestern (17-5), Royall (20-13) and Seneca (12-3) earned honorable mention.

In WIAA regional quarterfinals tonight, all part of the Wauzeka-Steuben sectional, River Ridge is at home against Shullsburg; Benton plays host to Belmont; Southwestern takes on Riverdale at home; Seneca plays host to De Soto and Royall earned a bye and will play at home on Thursday against La Farge or Cashton.

In the Oshkosh Lourdes sectional, Randolph earned a first-round bye and plays host to either Juda or Hartland University Lake School on Thursday.
