Spearers took a total of 14 fish (two juvenile females, six adult females, and six males) from Lake Winnebago on Thursday, Day 13 of the 16-day sturgeon season in Oshkosh.

The 14 fish brought the season total on Lake Winnebago to 260 fish and a total system-wide harvest of 521 fish.

The big fish trend continued Thursday, the Departmennt of Natural Resources said, with two fish greater than 100 pounds registered -- one at Jerry’s Bar and one at Wendt’s. The big fish of the day (73.7 inches, 102.1 pounds) was taken by Kyle Boelter and registered at Jerry’s Bar.

The big fish registered at Wendt’s was a 69-inch, 100.3-pounder taken by Lance Ziemer, who is director for the Southwest Chapter of Sturgeon for Tomorrow and is also a representative currently serving on the Winnebago Citizens Sturgeon Advisory Committee.
