The Fix telephone and computer repair shop opened Jan. 20 at 413 Jay St., near Cabin Coffee in downtown La Crosse.

It’s part of a chain of five shops that’s based in St. Cloud, Minn., said Haydar Say, one of the partners in the business.

The new La Crosse location repairs telephones, computers, iPads, tablets and iPods, and it also sells cellular telephone accessories.

The shop provides same-day repairs. “Most repairs take under 30 minutes,” Say added. He also said he decided to open a La Crosse location “because there’s not much competition here” for what his business does.

Shop hours are 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Fix’s telephone number is 608-881-6404. The chain’s website is www.ifixandsell.com and the business also is on Facebook.

Patience Renning and William Fagan opened Doggie Zen & Den in late December in Suite 3 at 1506 Cole Court, across from the Pizza Corral restaurant in Holmen. The new business is in the same building as the Revive All Salon and the Hmong Grocery Store.

“Our desire was to provide a higher quality spa experience for people’s four-legged family members,” Renning said. “No other pet is revered the way dogs are, and we want to raise the standards in the services offered for them without the outrageous pricing one may think, or traveling necessary to do so.”

Renning said Doggie Zen & Den provides a full array of grooming services, such as cut/trim, bathing, nail trim, nail art, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, glands, pet perfumes/colognes and even temporary fur dye.

Its featured service is the Hydro Heal Therapy/Pet Spa, a temperature-controlled, bubble massaging treatment and water therapy.

Grooming services are available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. “Boarding and daycare hours vary to accommodate the need,” Renning said.

Doggie Zen & Den’s telephone number is 608-399-3500 and its website is www.zenandden.com. It also is on Facebook.

Look for a Papa Murphy’s take-and-bake pizza store to open soon next to the Little China restaurant in the Holmen Square shopping center in Holmen.

A sign in the window says the restaurant is coming soon but doesn’t say exactly when. Remodeling has begun, but I wasn’t able to reach the local franchisee for details about the store, such as when it will open.

The first Papa Murphy’s in the greater La Crosse area opened in 1998 in the Crossing Meadows shopping center in Onalaska. And the second one opened in 1999 in the Jackson Plaza shopping center in La Crosse.
