The Family Video store on Madison’s Southwest Side is getting into pizza.

Highland Ventures, the parent company of Family Video and the largest franchisee of the Marco’s Pizza chain, has announced that it will open a Marco’s at 3162 Maple Grove Drive at the intersection of McKee Road.

The new restaurant, located next door to Family Video and scheduled to open Jan. 22, will offer dine-in, carryout and delivery service and will include its own exterior entrance but also an access door from within the video store.

“Opening in the city’s southwest corner amid a ton of neighborhoods is a perfect fit,” said Melissa Barber, a regional manager for Highland Ventures’ Marco’s Pizza operations in Wisconsin.

The hiring for a Marco's Pizza on the Madison's Southwest Side is under way.

Family Video also has a store at 5430 Century Ave. in Middleton, but there has been no announcement about a Marco’s at that location.

Highland Ventures, which has operated the Madison Family Video since 1998 and has 700 stores, has 150 Marco locations, which allows the company to offer pizzas delivered with videos.

Wisconsin is home to more than 20 Marco’s Pizza locations, including stores at 802 Windsor St. in Sun Prairie and 1950 Center Ave. in Janesville, both of which are next to Family Video stores.
