Baker Tilly Virchow Krause is merging with Beers + Cutler, effective Dec. 1, to form the 13th largest U.S. accounting and consulting firm, with $250 million in annual revenue and more than 1,400 employees. Terms of the deal were not released.
Beers + Cutler, of Vienna, Va., was founded in 1976 and has 260 employees.
The former Virchow Krause, of Madison, changed its name June 1 to Baker Tilly Virchow Krause to reflect its affiliation with Baker Tilly International Network, the eighth largest accounting firm worldwide. Founded in 1931, Virchow Krause has been an independent associate of Baker Tilly, based in London, since 1999.
The company also has moved its headquarters to Chicago. Nearly 300 employees remain at the former administrative offices, 10 Terrace Court, down from 350 in June. Jobs are not being moved out of Madison, spokeswoman Kerry Koehler said, but the company has gone through a downsizing over the past six to eight months.
