Thrive, the not-for-profit, regional economic development organization, is reducing its staff.
Two of the seven full-time employees will be leaving, as of Jan. 1. One full-time position will become a contracted job, and another employee who is currently under contract will have his hours reduced.
Jennifer Alexander, president of the Madison-based organization, said the change is not in response to the economy but rather, it reflects a move to a "different staffing model." Instead of having specialists in Thrive's focus areas of technology, agriculture and health care, it will use project managers who are generalists, Alexander said.
She said Thrive's board of directors will set priorities for 2010 on Friday and will finalize its strategic plan in December. "We want to make sure that we're nimble, lean and can get it accomplished," Alexander said.
