Shareholders of Milwaukee-based Bank Mutual Corp. voted Tuesday to approved the previously announced merger with Green Bay-based Associated Banc-Corp.

Associated is the largest banking firm headquartered in Wisconsin and Bank Mutual is the largest headquartered in Milwaukee.

The merger announced in July has Associated buying Bank Mutual in an all-stock deal valued at $482 million.

The two companies expect the transaction to close in early 2018.

The merged companies will have combined total assets of $31.7 billion, $29 billion from Associated, $2.7 billion from Bank Mutual.
