Four dentists will share the 2012 Wisconsin Small Business Person of the Year award issued by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Drs. Thomas Turner, Cory Brimacombe, Carl Hash and Joshua Spiegl are with First Impressions, a practice that specializes in pediatric dental care and orthodontics services. It is Wisconsin's largest provider of pediatric dentistry services to Medicaid patients.
First Impressions opened in Wausau in 1992. It now has clinics in Rhinelander, Medford, Shawano, Stevens Point and Weston, in addition to Wausau. There are nine dentists in the practice.
In 2001, First Impressions formed a community dental care foundation to provide education and advocacy for school-aged children. That program has expanded with the Toothmobile, a mobile clinic serving 15 counties.
The four dentists will be among those honored at SBA's National Small Business Week events May 20-22 in Washington, D.C.
The Wisconsin honorable mention winner is Kyle Weatherly, president of Solaris, a West Allis company that makes medical garments.
