Madison Gas & Electric has a new chief executive as of Wednesday.
Jeffrey Keebler took over as president and CEO of MGE and its parent company, MGE Energy, succeeding the retiring Gary Wolter.
Keebler, 45, has been employed by MGE since 1995, most recently as senior vice president of energy supply and planning. He has a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from UW-La Crosse and a master’s degree in business administration from UW-Whitewater.
Wolter, 62, has led MGE since February 2000. He is continuing as chairman of the board, a post he’s held since 2002.
Publicly traded MGE provides electricity to 146,000 customers in the Madison area and natural gas to 152,000 customers in south central and western Wisconsin.
The company reported $75.6 million in earnings for 2016 on revenue of $544.7 million.
