Construction will begin in July on a 4,900-square-foot, one-story retail building in Monona that will house two new eateries -- a fast casual Mexican restaurant and a brewpub-style franchise -- expected to open in the fall.

Qdoba Mexican Grill will occupy 2,500 square feet of the building at 103 West Broadway, with Mr. Brews Taphouse taking up the remaining 2,400 square feet, according to developer Steve Doran of Galway Companies, which will manage the building for a private investor. The building site, at the northwest corner of Monona Drive and West Broadway, is now vacant.

The restaurants will likely open in late August or mid-September, Doran said Thursday. A financial estimate for the project was not available.

Mr. Brews Taphouse, a combination craft beer bar and restaurant, began as Brews Brothers in the village of Weston in 2013 and then expanded to Madison and Verona, with several other company-owned and franchised locations now planned or under construction in other Wisconsin cities.
