Fifty-two entries have been chosen to move on to the semifinals in the Wisconsin Governor's Business Plan contest, and 21 of them -- 40 percent -- are from the Madison area.

The 52 were chosen by a panel of more than 80 judges from a field of 292 applications; they will have to submit executive summaries of their business proposals. Of those, the top two dozen contenders will be selected and they will have to develop a full business plan.

Twelve finalists will make presentations at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Conference in Madison on June 3; winners will be announced on June 4.
