Madison Area Music Association

In 2015 the Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) established MAMA Cares to aid area musicians and their families in times of crisis. On Nov. 11 MAMA Cares will host a major fundraising event, The Great Give Back, to support their efforts.

The big event will take place at Mr. Robert's Bar and Grill, 2116 Atwood Ave., from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Audiences can enjoy musical performances by Robert J., Sam Ness and the Lower 5th as well as a silent auction.

Since its inception, MAMA Cares has raised nearly $10,000 and helped several individuals and families. Funding for MAMA Cares comes from various fundraising events in addition to donations from individuals and businesses.

Donations to MAMA Cares can be made online at or mailed to MAMA, Inc., PO Box 8754, Madison, WI 53708.

Local musician Robert J. Conaway thought up the MAMA Cares program after his son Jacy underwent brain surgery and his family was left with significant medical expenses. After a successful fundraiser Conaway approached MAMA and established the Jacy Ray Fund.
