Fish Hatchery Road will be closed between Wingra Drive and Carver Street from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday for President Obama's visit to Wright Middle School, and other roads will be closed temporarily, Madison Police said.
The specific motorcade route from the Dane County Regional Airport to the school at 1717 Fish Hatchery Road will not be disclosed in advance, but some traffic backups can be anticipated as intersections along the route are closed as the president passes, police spokesman Joel DeSpain said.
Some residents with flights arriving or departing around midday could see delays, Dane County Regional Airport officials said this week.
The Madison Police Department, working with several other law enforcement agencies, was in the process Tuesday of making final preparations for the president's visit.
Security will be paramount during Obama's time in Madison, police said. The police are working with an advance team of U.S. Secret Service agents to jointly implement security measures.
Many Madison police officers are being called on to assist with motorcade and event security, and there will be overtime costs, but it's unknown what they will be, police said.
Metro Transit said Route 4, which follows Fish Hatchery Road, will be detoured to South Park Street between Badger Road and Wingra Drive while Fish Hatchery is closed.
