A woman who had been banned from a comic book store was arrested Sunday after she allegedly stole valuable collector's comics from the store.

Crystal Williams, 39, no permanent address, was arrested  for retail theft and trespassing, Madison police said.

The theft happened at about 12:40 p.m. at Graham Crackers Comics, 2831 E. Washington Ave.

"Employees had already banned the suspect from the business, due to past retail theft cases," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

Williams allegedly put seven classic comic books, including Superman and Ironman comics, into a bag and left the store without paying for the merchandise. The comic books had a total retail value of $435.

She was found in a nearby parking lot and turned the comic books over to the police.
