A man suspected of robbing a Fitchburg bank Monday morning was arrested about seven hours later.

Quincy Dixon, 24, of Fitchburg, was arrested by Fitchburg police in Madison and was booked into the Dane County Jail on a parole violation, while the bank robbery remains under investigation, Fitchburg police said.

The robbery happened at about 11 a.m. at BMO Harris Bank, 2900 Fish Hatchery Road.

"The suspect passed a note demanding money," the police report said. "The suspect was believed to have a weapon but it wasn't displayed."

The suspect fled on foot in a westerly direction. Madison police brought a police dog to the scene but Dixon wasn't found until around 6 p.m. when he was arrested by Fitchburg officers in Madison.

The FBI helped in the investigation, the police report said.
