A body found early Wednesday morning at an intersection in Fitchburg was not the result of freezing temperatures or anything else of a suspicious nature, officials said.
The unidentified person was found at about 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of Crescent Road and Apache Drive, Fitchburg police said.
Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but the person was deceased, and a death investigation was started.
"There was nothing unusual about the death," said Police Chief Don Bates.
Police did not release the sex of the person, approximate age or circumstances surrounding the death.
An autopsy was pending, police said.
During the past two weeks, four people have been found dead outside in the Madison area, with extremely cold weather a factor in all of the deaths.
