A man convicted of drug dealing two years ago led police on a high speed chase in Prairie du Chien early Tuesday morning before crashing into a ditch and getting arrested, again on alleged drug charges.
Christian Weber, 25, of Prairie du Chien, was tentatively charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and a third offense operating under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, the Crawford County Sheriff's Office said.
Weber showed signs of impairment when officers arrived on the scene of the crash, and a search of his car turned up numerous plastic bags of methamphetamine individually packaged for distribution, the Sheriff's Office report said.
A deputy and a local officer were patrolling Wells Street early Tuesday morning, when Weber's car was seen by authorities. Weber started making abrupt turns in the city, prompting the deputy to activate lights and siren.
Weber continued to drive fast and make many turns, ending up on the dead end Bluff View Drive. He drove through a yard at the dead end, and went down to Bluff View Terrace, where his car became stuck in the ditch.
