An 87-year-old man serving time in the Dane County Jail died at a local hospital Monday, but his death does not appear to be suspicious.
Donald Connery of Madison was in the Ferris Center minimum security jail serving a six-month sentence, after his fifth drunken driving offense, the Sheriff's Office said.
Connery was taken to UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital on Saturday, and was pronounced dead on Monday.
An autopsy was performed on Tuesday.
"No evidence of suspicious inflicted trauma was disclosed at the autopsy," the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office said on Friday.
The Fitchburg Police Department is investigating the case at the request of the Sheriff's Office.
