A Janesville man in a domestic disturbance allegedly tried to take an officer's gun but was tased before any violence occurred.

Trevor Prevatt, 28, was taken into custody on tentative charges of attempting to disarm a police officer and disorderly conduct/domestic violence, Janesville police said.

The fight was reported at about 7:30 a.m. Friday at an apartment in the 1300 block of Laramie Lane.

Officers were speaking to Prevatt in the hallway of the building when he allegedly lunged at an officer.

"He was deflected and officers tried to talk to him," said Sgt. Dean Sukus. "He said he intended to take the officer's gun, he knew what type of gun officers carry and police would have to shoot him."

Prevatt allegedly started a countdown to when he would follow through with his threat, but the threat ended when an officer shot him with a Taser.

He was taken to the Rock County Jail.
