A Madison man involved in a two-vehicle crash Friday in Richland County was arrested on multiple drug charges after a police dog found containers of drugs in the area near the crash, allegedly taken out of the car and hidden by the suspect.

Raymond Otigham, 43, was tentatively charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of Schedule II narcotics and resisting or obstructing an officer, the Sheriff's Office said.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 14 near Fairview Road, between Gotham and Sextonville.

Witnesses told police the driver of one of the vehicles involved walked into and out of a cornfield on two separate occasions, and appeared to be acting suspiciously.

"K9 Rambo was deployed for a search of the nearby area and located two containers filled with a substantial amount of marijuana," the report said. "Rambo also alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the suspect's vehicle."

A search turned up pills, drug paraphernalia, more marijuana and about $9,300 in cash.
