A man arrested in a quiet residential neighborhood on Madison's West Side Tuesday reportedly made a statement that he wanted to "make some news."

Daniel Marinko, 27, of Madison, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon after police set up a perimeter on Waite Lane near the Odana Hills golf course, responding to reports of an armed and dangerous man in the area.

"Officers were waiting for a police dog or a drone to help in finding the suspect, when an arm shot out from behind a bush near a home on Waite Lane," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "It (the arm) belonged to the wanted man."

Marinko was taken into custody without incident. Police found a flare gun in his pocket.

"Law enforcement agencies had received information that the suspect was armed and possibly looking to commit a robbery," DeSpain said.
