A man who tried to talk a little girl into getting into his pickup truck Wednesday morning told the girl he had everything she liked, including candy, toys and popcorn.

The child inticement incident happened at about 8:50 a.m. on Kipling Drive at Scott Lane on Madison's North Side, police said.

The nine-year-old girl was riding her bike to school when a small, red pickup truck slowed down near her.

"He asked her if she wanted to come to his home where he had candy, toys and popcorn," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "'All things kids like,' the girl quoted him as saying."

She pedaled to Lakeview Elementary School, 1802 Tennyson Lane, and told a teacher about the incident.

The girl was not injured.

The suspect is white, with long and curly gray or white hair, a red hat, denim jacket over a gray shirt and blue jeans.
