A motorcyclist who ran a red light on University Avenue and crashed into a car early Friday morning was arrested for his alleged fourth drunken driving attempt.

Sean Riemenapp, 24, of Madison, was detained by UW-Madison police officers after fleeing the scene of the crash, which happened at the intersection of University and North Lake Street, Madison police said.

The crash happened at about 1:55 a.m., as Riemenapp was heading west on University.

"He ran a red light at North Lake Street and slammed into a car going south on Lake," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

The car driver was not hurt but Riemenapp was thrown about 15 feet. He got up and started running.

UW-Madison officers found and detained him at West Dayton Street and North Charter Street. Madison police arrived and took him into custody.
