The scary clown menace that frightened America last summer might be making a repeat visit, at least in Madison.

Two girls, ages 9 and 11, were scared Sunday night while playing outside, because a person dressed as a clown and another person wearing a Halloween-type mask approached them, with both carrying knives.

It happened around 8:50 p.m. on Todd Drive near Ardsley Circle, Madison police said.

"The victims said the men spoke to them as they ran up the street," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "The frightened children immediately reported the encounter to trusted adults, and police were called."

No other reports were taken by police of a scary clown and a masked man.
