Three people were seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in the town of Vienna, with one driver tentatively being charged with his fifth alleged drunken driving offense.
The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. at the T-intersection of Highways 113 and V, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said.
The crash closed Highway 113 for over three hours while crews worked at the scene.
Officials said a 78-year-old woman driving north on Highway V was turning onto Highway 113 when she drove into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Kenneth Moen, 52, of Madison.
The elderly woman was taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Moen and a 45-year-old woman passenger in his vehicle were taken by ambulance to UW Hospital, also for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges are pending against Moen for the alleged fifth operating while intoxicated offense, with the enhancer of causing injury.
