Gunfire on Madison's North Side Wednesday night resulted in multiple calls to 911, but no injuries or property damage was reported.

The gunfire was heard in the Wheeler Road and School Road area, near Cherokee Park, at about 11:20 p.m., Madison police said.

Officers found seven .45 caliber shell casings near a stop sign on the south side of Wheeler Road.

"A homeowner thought his house may have been struck, as he felt something hit it as shots rang out," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "In the dark of night, however, no damage was found."

A witness saw a car speeding through the area at the time of the gunfire reports.

No description of a suspect or suspects was given.
