A burglar used a rock to shatter a glass door at a North Side credit union early Thursday morning, but it wasn't known if the burglar stole anything.

The attempted burglary happened at about 3 a.m. at the UW Credit Union, 1422 Northport Drive, Madison police said.

Officers went to the facility after getting an alarm, discovering the shattered rear glass door.

"Drawers in the teller area and in an office had been pulled open, but an employee who arrived on scene did not believe anything had been stolen," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

An inventory was planned at the credit union later in the day.

No description of a suspect was given.
